Site induction at your fingertips

Transportation has been a vital aspect of maintaining Fonterra’s supply chain since 2001.

Fonterra has historically contracted trucking companies during the peak production period, and consistently lost time through the face-to-face induction required for temporary drivers.

Through in-depth collaboration with Fonterra, Sysdoc has developed online induction modules for each of the 25 manufacturing sites across New Zealand. This process standardised and streamlined the induction training that had previously varied from site to site and was delivered inconsistently.

Prior to arriving on-site, Fonterra-contracted truck drivers must complete site-specific induction training for each site they visit. This reduces delays for both Fonterra staff and the contract drivers.

Being online, the modules can be refreshed and easily updated to ensure core information as well as Health and Safety regulations remain up-to-date. Completion records are stored and available via Fonterra’s Learning Management System for future resource planning and audits.

The result is an engaging and consistent method of delivering induction content that is accessible 24/7, from nearly anywhere. It also provides faster and improved reporting of completion information.

“The project has made a real step change in the time and cost of our contractor inductions. The benefits have flowed to our contractors as well as our own sites from reduced time commitment and accuracy and the availability of induction records.”
